A meeting of the Berlin Board of Education was held in the Berlin High School library beginning at 6:00 p.m. Present for the meeting were Lynn Moore, Louise Valliere, Donald Labrecque, Denise Valerino, Corinne Cascadden, Bryan Lamirande, Amy Huter, Georgia Caron, Dan Record, Tim Forestall, Gary Bisson, Roland Pinette, Julie King, Robert Malloy, and a member of the press.
MINUTES On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to approve the minutes of the March 20, 2014 meeting, public and nonpublic sessions as amended. The motion passed unanimously.
WARRANTS On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to approve the warrant dated, April 7, 2014 for the amount of $220,466.30. On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.

COMMENTS None
ADMIN SERVICES The Superintendent reviewed recommendations made by the Androscoggin Valley Community Forum report on the future of public education. She also informed the Board on NH RSA 194-C which addresses the procedure for the reorganization of SAUs. On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to send a letter to the Milan and Dummer School Boards requesting to meet on this issue. The motion passed unanimously.
FY 15 BUDGET The Superintendent reviewed the following potential budget cuts for FY15
- Reduction in force and Non –Renewal of teacher contracts
- Instructional Team Leaders and Department Heads
- Berlin Middle School Textbooks
- BMS/Hillside Nurse position
SUPER’S REPORT The Superintendent informed the Board of the following issues:
- Portable Classrooms
- Federal Grants
- Destination Imagination Award – Moving to Globals
- Berlin Middle School Film Festival Award for Dog Sledding Video

NON PUBLIC On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Denise Valerino, the Board voted to go into nonpublic session at 6:35 p.m. in accordance with RSA 91-A3II, (a), (b) & (c). On a roll call vote, all members voted in the affirmative.
On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to come out of nonpublic session at 7:52 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. No additional votes were taken in nonpublic session
STAFFING On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the following staffing changes:
Resignations:
Michelle Figella – Guidance Counselor – BHS
The Board approved Non-Renewals.
The motion passed unanimously.
On a motion by Louise Valliere, seconded by Lynn Moore, the Board voted to accept a proposed reduction in force and to offer a retirement incentive in conjunction with this reduction. The motion passed unanimously.
RENOMINATIONS On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to approve the staff re-nominations as submitted by the Superintendent. The motion passed unanimously.
ADJOURN On a motion by Lynn Moore, seconded by Louise Valliere, the Board voted to adjourn it’s meeting at 7:57 p.m. The motion passed unanimously.
